Job Type: Umbraco Full Stack Developer (Permanent / Full Time)
Location: Edinburgh (United Kingdom)
Salary: Negotiatable Per Annum

Date: 22/07/2019

We are a specialist Umbraco agency based in Edinburgh's West End and are looking for a new .NET developer to join our team.

Company & Job Specifics:

It can be difficult to strike a good balance between life and work, but here at Gecko we think we're doing pretty well on that front.

Through a combination of good planning, great communication and even better project management we've been able to achieve an exceptionally high client and staff retention rate.

Many of our clients initially come to us looking for help with their web presence and then stay with us for years as we deliver not only a fantastic Umbraco website, but a full range of digital services too. We have a strong portfolio of clients and are fortunate to also have a dedicated and skilled team to work with them. We've recently relocated to a larger studio in Edinburgh's West End and are now looking to expand our team with a new .NET Developer.

Be responsible

You take ownership of your work

While our team is collaborative, we are a small team with a number of specialist roles so we're looking for someone who can pick up a project from start to finish and work independently. Of course, "independent" doesn't mean "alone". Our Project Manager is always on hand to manage scheduling, we have meeting rooms available (or our new sofa and breakfast bar!) and we use Slack for quick questions and chatting with our colleagues in Chester, Dublin and Portugal.

Embrace variety

You enjoy different types of projects

Our work involves either creating websites for new clients, or making changes for existing clients. Some projects can be relatively quick and others can take months. We build Umbraco websites and can integrate them with a range of different 3rd party services. And when the big jobs are complete, we continue to support our clients as they require. Every week may very well bring something new to your desk, so we're looking for someone who enjoys a varied flow of projects.

Communicate effectively

You can translate what you do

We're also looking for someone who can effectively translate what they do into simple terms. All members of the team can have contact with clients at different times - pitches, catch up meetings, training, phone calls and support tickets. It's part of the reason many of our clients have stayed with us for so long.

Get the big picture

You can see beyond your role

And finally we're looking for someone who can appreciate the bigger picture. Whether it's the implications for our clients' business, your colleagues or the agency as a whole, being able to see beyond what may be immediately in front of you is a tough skill to hone, but an important one.
