Umbraco Training

Umbraco’s content management system (CMS) is gaining traction among businesses and personal brands. It has nearly half a million active installs and almost 222,000 active members in the open-source community. It is a CMS with more than 300 extensions, its own Cloud, and plenty of features for content editors to wield.

Want to develop a site yourself or work on someone else’s Umbraco website? Umbraco certifications will help you land that dream job. Umbraco HQ offers a range of training courses to certify users, with three different levels of expertise. Each course comes with its own point value--the more points you earn, the higher your certification level.

Umbraco Certified Professional

Everyone starts as a “Certified Professional” with 100 points. The easiest way to become a Professional is to take the Fundamentals course. The only prerequisite for Fundamentals Training is an understanding of basic web-development and a working knowledge of coding languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

The course is geared towards developers, designers, and technical users who want to learn the best practices for using Umbraco and understand its latest features. Topics include defining documents, templates, building navigation and galleries, handling media, and collecting data.

Certified Professionals should be able to grasp the architecture of Umbraco websites, and implement any website in Umbraco without compromising design or markup.

After the course is completed, there is both a trainer’s review of the attendee’s work and a multiple choice test before certification is awarded. Get 80% correct on the test and follow what Umbraco deems “best practices” in your work, and you will receive the title of Certified Professional.

Umbraco Certified Expert

The next level in certification is to become a Umbraco Certified Expert. This means specialising in specific areas within the Umbraco framework. Courses include extending the back office, learning how to apply model-view-controller patterns, and working with Umbraco in Microsoft Visual Studio.

Other specialities teach how to integrate external data from custom-built applications, index with search engines Examine and Lucene, and utilise the workflows and features within the Umbraco Cloud. Developers and engineers can also learn how to load balance in Umbraco, and develop a codebase that can scale across multiple servers.

Umbraco Certified Master

The final level of certification earns you the title of Umbraco Certified Master. This means you have completed all of the courses in the Umbraco training. There should be nothing you can’t do or understand within the Umbraco framework!

For those who go with the full suite course option--the Master Bundle--the company throws in a bonus Umbraco training course for free.

Each of the courses can be taken in a webinar format or at certain physical locations. Companies and teams looking to train a group can book an Umbraco training specialist to travel to them (Umbraco notes, tongue-in-cheek, they will even travel to Antarctica). In that case, the courses can be designed and customised to meet your company’s specific needs and aspirations.

Whatever your skill level, Umbraco training and certification can be a vital step to advancing your professional web development career.

Hey Peeps,

I'm an entrepreneur and web developer with a passion for coding. I absolutely love working with Umbraco CMS and appreciate the Umbraco community even more.

I've got 10 years+ .Net experience and 7 years+ experience working in the recruitment industry, both coding and marketing job websites. I wanted to use my skills to help give something back to this awesome community and so I decided to build UmbraJobs.com.

My vision & fundamentals

I want this website to be a place where Umbraco Professionals and Umbraco Partners can advertise their services but at the same time I want to filter out all the under-qualified freelancers & agencies that take up the biggest part of other job & freelancer websites. We've all worked hard to gain our Umbraco certifications, partnership status, and help build the Umbraco community to what it is today. I want to see everyone get rewarded for their efforts.

Follow me on social media

If you're an Umbraco professional, partner, employer, recruiter or a passionate Umbraco community builder then I'm more than happy to hear from you. Follow me on my social media channels and please reach out if you have any needs, want help or consultation with anything Umbraco related or just want a general chat.
