The Umbraco Partners Program - The Three Levels of Umbraco Certified Developers

In a previous blog post I discussed why it’s better to use Umbraco certified developers instead of simply hiring someone who claims they are an umbraco expert. The general conclusion being that an Umbraco certified developer has proven their worth, will do a better job, have great insight and will actually save you money in the long run. If you haven’t read it, you should definitely go and check it out now.

To earn the well coveted distinction of being an Umbraco certified developer you must complete their official courses to collect points which will allow you to power up. Think of them as XP points… if you are a gaming nerd. The more points you get, the more power you will have!

In this blog article I am going to look at the three different levels of Umbraco certified developers and what differentiates one from another. So let’s have a look at what they are and what that means to someone who is looking to hire an umbraco web developer and considering Umbraco certification as a factor. Starting with…

Umbraco Certified Professional

The very first stage, requiring you earn 100 points, will allow you to strut your stuff around town declaring yourself an Umbraco Certified Professional!

You have two routes you can take to rack up the points and bear such prestige….

Firstly, you can do the Umbraco Fundamentals Course which will take one whole day of online training and net you all 100 points in one swift attack.

Alternatively, you can actually achieve this by completing two regular one day courses from the extensive catalog of learnable knowledge, including such gems as Umbraco Cloud Developer, Application Integration and my all time favourite, Extending the Backoffice.

Umbraco Certified Expert

If that isn’t enough for you then it’s time to up your game and look at becoming an Umbraco Certified Expert. You will need to double your points to 200 if you want to write home and tell your parents you are an Umbraco Certified Expert.

You can do this by hitting up two more one day courses or, if you didn’t do it already, doing the Umbraco fundamentals course to boost your original score.

Now you are cooking on gas and coding like a champ!

Umbraco Certified Master

Still not sated? No worries, you’re not at grand master level yet. Or, as we say in the Umbraco world, an Umbraco Certified Master! Are you ready to take the “Master Path”?

For this one you will have to complete the one day Umbraco Fundamentals course to earn your 100, though you would have probably done this by now. Then you have to complete ALL of the Umbraco Foundation courses, taking a day each, which are ‘Extending the Umbraco Backoffice’, ‘Umbraco, MVC and Visual Studio’, ‘Umbraco Application Integration’ and the all important ‘Security in Umbraco’.

But wait, there’s more!

To put the cherry on top of the ultimate Umbraco certified developers cake you will need to complete at least one of The Skills courses. You will have the choice of either ‘Searching and Indexing with Examine’, ‘Umbraco Cloud Developer Training’ or ‘Load Balancing and Azure’ to slot in the final piece of the puzzle and become not just an Umbraco master, but an Umbraco Certified Master!

Bundle it up!

If you do decide that you want to go all the way then there is the Umbraco Master Bundle that you can purchase to get a discount and fast track your way to the top of the Umbraco certified partners pile and officially be an elite Umbraco web developer!

Hey Peeps,

I'm an entrepreneur and web developer with a passion for coding. I absolutely love working with Umbraco CMS and appreciate the Umbraco community even more.

I've got 10 years+ .Net experience and 7 years+ experience working in the recruitment industry, both coding and marketing job websites. I wanted to use my skills to help give something back to this awesome community and so I decided to build UmbraJobs.com.

My vision & fundamentals

I want this website to be a place where Umbraco Professionals and Umbraco Partners can advertise their services but at the same time I want to filter out all the under-qualified freelancers & agencies that take up the biggest part of other job & freelancer websites. We've all worked hard to gain our Umbraco certifications, partnership status, and help build the Umbraco community to what it is today. I want to see everyone get rewarded for their efforts.

Follow me on social media

If you're an Umbraco professional, partner, employer, recruiter or a passionate Umbraco community builder then I'm more than happy to hear from you.
